Gender differences in drug efficacy

Categories:

I have been reading a newspaper article, which highlights how many drugs work well for men, but less well for women (or the other way round).  Does anyone know of any research into whether TKIs work differently, depending on the patient's gender?  The article explained that many drugs were only tested on men, and the researchers assumed that women would react in the same way.  This seemed to be especially true for some painkillers and anti-depressants.

Imatinib seems to be working well for me, nearly ten years in, so this is just to satisfy my curiosity!
