Missed a dose

Categories:

Hi All,

I have missed my last Friday evening dose of Tasigna. I started to feel joint pin today.

I am bit worried and am feeling guilty about missed dose.

Does missing single dose effect my PCR?

Don’t worry about a missed dose. One really isn’t a big deal. My doctor was happy for me to take two days off Tasigna if it turned out I needed to but won’t bore you with the story. It’s important to not keep missing doses I.e several a month as that’s when it can start to have an impact, but one dose you’re fine 😊

Don’t worry. Obviously try not to forget, but once in a while is not going to be a problem at all.

I can’t find the source, but I recall seeing a medical paper discussing the effect of missed doses for CML. “Full compliance” was defined as >95% adherence ... so don’t worry.

Thank you!

I have severe joint pain since yesterday. Can it be
due to a missed dose?

Hi, if the joint pain goes within 1-2 days of taking your normal dose, it could well related to the missed  dose. If it goes on after that I think it probably has another cause. The half life of Tasigna in blood is around 17 hours, so there is a bit of variation in the levels in your system over the 24 hour cycles (assume you are taking it twice a day?). If it goes away quickly when on normal routine, the effect is worth bearing in mind if you are considering dose reduction at any time in the future.

Yes, I am on Tasigna 400 mg BD. Does missing a dose have any effect on my PCR?

It's been like 3 days after my missed dose. I still have joint point.

Hi, Have you been on Tasigna for 6 months or more - I see you have been using the site for 6 months.? If so, and you've not had this issue before, and it has not got better 3 days after your missed dose, it is seems more likely that the joint pain is caused by something else. A single missed dose is unlikely to have a significant impact on your test results. What is your latest PCR?

I know this is easy to say, but the I would really suggest that if you can stop yourself worrying about the missed dose it would be good. It has happened; you will  make sure you don't miss another one, and there's not a lot else you can do. I hope the joint pain clears up soon.

Yes, I was dx last dec. It's been 7 months now.
My 6th month PCR is 0.0065.

My joint and muscle pains are still the same. Have to hit gym or get doc appointment to get some relief :-)
