Sprycel-Irregular Heartbeat

I am wondering if anyone has had any issues with an irregular heartbeat with Sprycel. I am on 50mg and just had my knee surgery cancelled because of an irregular heartbeat that showed up with an EKG. Wondering if it could be related to the Sprycel? The Orthopedic surgen wants me to see a cardiologist to get approval for the surgery.

Hi Tom,

Here's a link to an article:  Cancer Treatment–Induced Arrhythmias

I have another article:  Cardiovascular Complications of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors: A Retrospective Cohort Study

I couldn't find it on Sci-Hub, but I can email a copy to you if you'd like.

Since starting Sprycel a couple of years ago I've had some episodes of irregular heartbeat.  I've managed them by reducing dose to 20mg and alternating back to imatinib when it becomes bothersome.

Kirk, thanks for the reply. Interesting article. I'm pretty sure the sprycel had something to do with the irregular heartbeat. I went to the cardiologist today and he said everything is now normal. We rescheduled the surgery for next week. I think I am going to stop the sprycel until we can do the surgery.

Here's another article I'd forgotten about.

Case report - Reversible ventricular arrhythmia induced by dasatinib   https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4184536/

Thanks kirk. Good article. The cardiologist called and he even said the Sprycel might have something to do with the irregular heartbeat? The knee surgery has been cancelled a couple of times now. I think I am going to take a break from the sprycel untilI can get the surgery done.
