To scuba and others about cbc

Categories:

Hi, i was diagnosed exactly five years ago. But i have very little knowledge about cml as i have completely surrendered myself to my oncologist. So i kindly request scuba and other forum members to tolerate me because i am asking too many simple questions to forum members. Again my question to scuba.
Almost for 5 years my eosinophils are always a bit higher than normal.
My creatinine levels are always bit lower than normal
Even i eat small amount of white meat my uric acid increases.if the uric acid levels are constantly higher does it affect kidneys.
For three years i took gleevec.now im taking niloi for the past two years.since lockdown is going here i cannot get nilotinib.i decided to skip tablets for a month.is it ok or bad.my last pcr 0.0071. thanks.

Many who participate on this forum can provide answers and comments to your questions. A variety of answers can help you decide what is a good course of action that you may want to take.

Not taking your nilotinib for a month is akin to a cessation trial. It is important that you get a PCR taken at one month stopping. So if a month has already gone by - you need to schedule a PCR right away. You have a higher than 50-50 chance that  your PCR will jump - perhaps significantly from your current 0.007. If it doesn't jump, that will be good to know as well (your own personal experiment).

I suspect it will go up and if you get back on drug straight away it should fall back again quickly. Don't wait.

Your eosinophils and creatinine are normal for you. It may or may not be due to your taking nilotinib. Since you have been off drug for a month, would be interesting to see if these values change much.

Regarding Uric acid - mine is high too and I never have had kidney stones due to that (probably because I take a lot of vitamin K2!). I find I can reduce my uric acid levels if I drink more water. You may just be a bit dehydrated. Try drinking more water (let your urine be your guide - if pale to solid yellow - you are not drinking enough water. Urine should be very pale with only a hint of yellow to know you are not dehydrated. I tend to be more dehydrated because I just don't get thirsty. I have to work at drinking more because of that. When I do, my uric acid levels come down.
