Botox

I am planning to have Botox as a cosmetic procedure Are there any contraindications for CML ? I am 9 months past diagnosis and bloods Re haematology are normal On imatinib 400 mg daily and tolerating well

Hi Jacqueline,

Sorry I wouldn’t have a clue and I’d imagine not many on this forum would know either. Or perhaps that’s my own ignorance but what I will say is, we’ve got to be mindful of others who have real struggles with CML ie those that respond but have debilitating symptoms and those that don’t respond at all and this question may not be the best place to publish but I also understand that we are told to live “normal” lives so in some ways it’s my own ignorance maybe that’s at fault. Either way I can’t comment medically, but I’d imagine as long as your levels are normal you’re at no more risk than the general population.

All the best

Alex

Hi,

I have never heard Botox being an issue with CML. I’d urge any CML patient to be cautious when their bloods are not normal, but if yours are normal I can’t see any issue but you could ask your nurse or doctor to be sure.

I believe Botox can migrate a little within your body but only a couple of cm from the injection site - so it seems super-unlikely that the Botox could interfere with your CML or medication.

I know that many people are prescribed plastic surgery to prolong life and to alleviate some infections and complications of diseases. I won't cite Jolie as an example. She's a prime example of that. After removing fat from my stomach, I also decided to have a stomach barrier. Then I was recommended to maintain muscle tone. But I decided to have plastic surgery because of the drastic weight loss. And then it turned out that I needed to correct the nasal septum. I found - link removed by moderator - in the clinic. I decided to try this operation before the cheekbone surgery.

I do Dysport 4 times a years, just in my forehead. I have an extra wrinkly forehead for my age (35), does not seem to be hereditary in my case. Maybe from Dasatinib (collagen reduction) or maybe I just spend too much time outside, who knows, but it works and I have never had any issues with it. I actually usually go the same day as my quarterly PCR test bc it is near the hospital.
