Shielding covid

Hi all, are any of you shielding again with the covid numbers rising ? I live in Lancashire so we are now in tier 3 ,

Personally I am not doing anything above and beyond. And I believe the govt have said we don’t have to shield again which is odd considering infection data is higher (due to more testing albeit).

I just remain as careful as I can be without it causing any anxiety like it did the 1st time around. I was told by my consultant that TKI don’t cause suppression of the immune system. But I am on Nilotinib so maybe that’s specific to that consideration.

Did anyone go the whole hog on shielding? Separate bedrooms, not cooking/eating with the rest of the household, washing the bathroom down after every use etc.? I will continue as I have been - minimal contact outside the home, rigorous hand-washing, avoiding anyone not social distancing, avoiding pubs, being outside as much as possible. I explained all this to my consultant and he was fine with it.

Yeah I got all that info in the 1st wave but nothing new since the rising rates.

I'm not living in the UK, but I have been going out socially and living as normal since august. In a normal week im exposed to about 10 people, most of whom are a closed groups and much of my socialising is outdoors.

That said, I've just returned from one month travelling which included Vienna and Venice while their numbers were growing. I wore a mask as advised and was a bit more careful than usual with hand washing and general hygiene and I was fine. My CMl is under control and I have no underlying conditions.

I’ve received an email from the government saying to only go out fir exercise and drs appointments And my free Asda delivery slot has been extended to March 🤷‍♀️X

Yes, it seems that we must follow the new lockdown law plus the advisory "extra precautionary shielding measures". I will miss swimming but otherwise I will follow the new rules to the letter. As a relative introvert, I do not find shielding to be stressful at all. At least I now avoid the modern mania for "group hugs", open plan offices that resemble zoos more than sedate working environments and rather silly teambuilding events.

I do appreciate that the more extrovert types are going to find this difficult.
