Chronic myeloid leukemia and ulcerative colitis query

Categories:

Hi,

I have chronic myeloid leukemia and ulcerative colitis. Cml is cancelling out all medical options to manage my inflammatory bowel disease.

Is there a center of excellence hospital in UK specializing in co-morbidities in gastroenterology and haematology?

Thank you for your help.

Hello there, I’m in the same UC/CML boat. Why do you say CML is cancelling out your UC treatment options? It might just be me, but I have noticed my UC has gotten significantly better since starting my TKI (hard to know if it’s coincidental).

Doctor wants me free from tki since I am in remission and these drugs have fatal long term side effects such as peripheral arterial disease etc. and therefore he told me to utilize ulcerative colitis medications. I only got to know that I can use only one biological from the whole options for IBD.

Apologies, I’m not sure I fully understand your post. I think we would all like to be off TKIs if possible, since there could be long term side effects. However, TFR will not be an option for many of us.

On the UC side there are multiple options anti-TNF, IL-12/23, Vedo etc. not all of these are associated with risk of neoplasia. Guess I’m just a little surprised you can’t find a good combination with your TKI.
