Nilotinib and Covid vaccine

Categories:

Hi

I was interested to see if anyone taking Nilotinib (Tasigna) has had any reaction to the Covid vaccine? I have been taking Nilotinib since 2015, currently been undetectable for the last 18 months, but since taking Nilotinib I have become extra sensitive/allergic to many things (also an anaphalaxic shock to the dye used when having an MRI scan). I'm very anxious about getting the Covid vaccine, any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Hi j,

like many others with cml have had both doses of covid vaccine, and like you have been on Nilotinib since September 2015, can honestly say I’ve  had no side effects, a little nausea on the day of second dose of vaccine but within 24 hours was fine, hope this gives a little reassurance.

Stay safe. Peter

Hey I am in Nilotinib for 3 years and I have had 2 doses of the AZ (Oxford) vaccine. 1st dose I felt rough (flu symptoms) 2nd dose nothing at all.

You’re going to be fine but if you have a history of allergies it’s best to let them know as it depends on what allergies you have.

I will say since being on Nilotinib my hayfever sky rocketed and this year my body went to shock from a severe hayfever reaction. Since being on prescribed allergy meds all has been perfect.

Best to just let them know when you have your jab. The benefits out way the risks is my personal view. They also didn’t effect my blood counts my doc said all my numbers are perfect if you’re concerned about that like I was.

Hi I’ve been on nilotinib since last Summer. I’ve had two jabs (Pfizer). No side effects at all except an achey arm.

Hi!

On Nilotinib for two years. I had both my jabs of Pfizer, no real side effect apart from a day of fatigue and slight fever after the second one.
