Thrush

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well and achieving your goals.

I have checked through previous threads for information on thrush. However I cannot find details regarding a one off treatment I want to use.

This is one oral pill 150mg Fluconazole. Encouraging ease of thrush around two days.

I have been using 1% and 2% Canesten for over a week now, with no improvement.

I'm on 400mg daily imatinib

Is there any reason why I should not use Fluconazole?

Thanking you

Alan

There are medication interaction reference websites which should tell you if flucanazole is ok with imatanib.

Did it clear up?
Coconut oil rinsing is helpful for thrush oral symptoms.

Indian medicine folk often say western guts have a lot of fungal overgrowth, a salt water digestive wash (it a yoga practice) may be very helpful if its not reacted to a systemic anti fungal like flucanazole doesn't help.

Thank you EvaH

I am very interested in your reply. I certainly have a "western gut"!

Any suggestions for reducing acidity naturally?

I value any reference to yoga life style. Daily I meditate and follow a few yoga moves. Really helps with anxiety and reducing effects of cramps from taking imatinib

Yes, the Flucanazole 150mg worked. I used it after consulting with my pharmacist. However, I can no longer use it as it is not recommended for the over 60s. I am just guilty of that, so I will look at more options.

I suggest you find a reputable yoga practioner who is experienced with full SHANKAPRAKSHALANA

This uses a technique of salt water rinsing of the whole digestive tract followed by 7 days special bland diet to rebuild intestinal flora (mostly rice and boiled veggies). Its very important that you do it with an experienced practioner and that you follow the diet to the letter afterwards and its very helpful as a kind of 'reset' for the whole system.
