Dosage Reduction expectations

This month marks my third year since diagnosis. I have had remarkable results and Imatinib dosage has been reduced from 400 to 200. How quickly will I be able to notice the difference of the new dosage?

In what sense? Side effects? Imatinib has a half life than means after about 5 days there is little residual drug left in you. So generally after about a week you could start to feel a difference … but again it depends on what the side effect was. For example, I had grade 3 bone pain on imatinib and we calculated it should start to subside on day 5 and it did. Gone by 7.

David.

Thanks!
Diarrhea, hair loss and “hot flashes” have been my side effects. I think hair had stopped falling out several months ago but looking forward to additional growth.

The near future would be wonderful on the other two issues.

Appreciate your reply.

When I reduced from 400mg to 200 mg, the improvement, particularly in stopping getting cramp, was within a week.|I went on to try TFR a year later, which lasted 17 months. The improvement in side effects was more marked in the change for 400-200 than from 200-0.
