I haven't been on for a while but want to post my history and get feedback. You are all so knowledgeable. I have been undected since 3 months after diagnoses 4 years ago, I did have a small blip but quickly corrected. I have been on Sprycel 40 mg for almost 4years,the dose was originally 100mg with a taper to 40 mg, My hematologist is not a fan for lowering the dose or stopping TKI therapy. My cholesterol has raised to 220, with LDL 116, normal HDL. Blood pressure up from consistent 110/60 to 135/85 most of the time. I am normal weight and walk on average 2 miles daily. Cardiologist does not want to prescribe a statin until he does a cardiac Cat scan. So far I have declined this. One day while jogging in the rain back to my home I felt sharp pain in my carotid area for a brief period. That did scare me. Other side effects of course are fatique but I get through that. So what do you think? Should I decrease to 20 mg? Should I have the cardiac Cat scan? Should I try stopping the Sprycel after this year? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am 68 with a history 0f breast cancer 17 years ago. Thanks in advance. Dawn

I have the PCR done every 4 months. Yes he is afraid I will relapse. Doesn’t make sense to me. I am gonna try the 20 mg just like you said for a year and see what happens. Do you think every 4 mos is enough for PCR? What is your opinion on the cardiac Cat scan?
Hi, Dawn, at our age (l'm 3 years older) I wouldn't have concerns about any cardiac function tests. I had EKGs every 3 months when I was on dasatinib and then nilotinib although now that I am only taking 150mg/day they've stopped ordering them. I've had three Echocardiograms, my first with my first pleural effusion back in 2011. I suppose the CT would show plaque buildup and other arterial issues. Good luck with your low dose, I did great on 20mg/day of dasatinib and then every other day. I just couldn't get rid of the effusion.
