Imatinib Genérico

Categories:

Hi Fernando,

A few years ago I switched from Gleevec to generic imatinib.  I was taking a reduced dose of 200mg/day and after about nine months on the generic my PCR went from 0.04% up to 0.23%.  I've been back on 400mg/day of Gleevec for a while and my latest PCR was 0.03%.

If you're on the normal dosage of 400mg/day then you will probably do fine with the generic.

What was your latest PCR result?

Kirk

Saludos y bendiciones.

"Thanks for your reply. At the moment I still do not have that PCR result, how I was recently diagnosed I still do not know how to identify those values. I will see in detail my exam. I hope I do well with the generic when I run out of Gleveec.
Greetings and blessings."

Fernando if you click on the "About CML" heading above, and then select the "Just diagnosed" option you will find information about the tests and what the resuts mean. I hope that is useful

Muchas gracias. Voy a dar click dónde me dice.
Saludos

Fernando, on the question of generic imatinib, there is a leaflet on this link which might help. https://cmlsupport.org.uk/node/20096

Hi Fernando,

I’m from Brazil. Our government provides Imatinib (generic Gleevec) , which I have been taking since 2014.  In my case, the generic version worked fine, and I think in most cases the generic version will have equivalent results to the original. What may change is how each lab/company makes the generic version of the original, with some small deviations being possible.

If you are curious, you can look for the name of the lab that makes the Imatinib your take. The name is printed on the package. Typically, governments have contracts with local (national) labs that are huge, reputable, and that manufacture generics of difference medicines.

Simply speaking, generic Gleevec works.

To help on your own assessment, you can try getting a better understanding of the following:

* What is PCR in the context of CML
* What is log reduction in the context of CML
* What are the typical Imatinib doses for CML patients

Who do you think will win the World Cup?

Best

Hola Israel.
Saludos y bendiciones.
