Has anyone experienced problems taking Generic sandoz with blood thinners clopidogrel or asprin - burning and tingling around the body
You are here
Generic sandoz
According to the sandoz pill leaflet it’s made in 4 different places ,2 in Germany and 2 in Slovenia .glivec only states Slovenia
For some time I have now been on generic imatinib (before that branded Glivec) and my specialist suggested that Sandoz as it was owned by Novartis was the safest generic to take -like David said not dissimilar to branded Glivec.
I am on blood thinners but unlike you on edoxaban (Lixiana) at 60 mg which is the higher dose. I was told by a coagulant/oncology specialist that imatinib potentiates edoxaban and vice versa so you can find that some effects will occur-in my case eye bleeds but these are self limiting I am told.
Long term use of imatinib can lead to non diabetic peripheral neuropathy so the tingling you refer to might be this -other effects are more cramps, numbness on the peripheries like fingers .
The drug/ drug interaction of some tkis with blood thinners is a small risk perhaps compare to the greater risk of a stroke if you cease blood thinners or reduce the dose.
In our situation there is little we can do about the current situation-I am not a candidate for cessation of imatinib and I do not want to run a bigger risk of a stroke by ceasing or reducing thinners.
