Any updates on generic imatinibs

Categories:

Hi there,
I have posted before on generics but would welcome any updates you may have -especially from UK
I have been on imatinib for 18 years and initially branded Glivec then Sandoz generic;Sandoz generic currently has some supply chain problems so have been offered Teva.
We are all different but are there any comments on Teva-whether the side effect profile is hard on musculo skeltal or gastric for instance??
The UK supply did look like this -Accord,CIPLA,Mylan, Teva,Sandoz,Wockhardt .Is that still the case?

My issue is a not very comfortable non diabetic peripheral neuropathy and dont really want an alternative to the Sandoz drug that exaggerates further this condition-whether very long term use of imatinib has caused this is another story/question:unanswerable by most medics!
Many thanks
John

Hi.

I was switched from Glivec after 5 years to a generic- TEVA. The only thing I can report is it harder on the stomach- aggravating my ongoing acid reflux issues which coincide with me starting cml medication some 10 years ago. I have to make a lot of food on my stomach, I eat at 8 pm in the evening, take the pill after food. Avoid accord .

Thanks for the information -useful
Apparently the excipients are different which is the coating and the core(or packing)
In addition one was an alpha formulation -the other a beta formulation

Regards

John
