Hi All,
This is just to remind you of this upcoming event. The theme this year is "United by Unique" which places people at the centre of care and their stories at the heart of the conversation.
I guess here on CML Support that we have been always sharing our experiences and advising others of what we might expect from our tki treatments that nearly all of us (unless on TFR) are currently following. We are indeed fortunate that in 2001 Glivec was available in USA and in UK one year later in 2002.Time magazine described it as the golden cancer bullet or the magic bullet.
I took my first Glivec 400 mg tablet on 15 February 2007 and am now still on the generic Imatinib - which is nearly 19 years ago.
We all have those memories of our initial diagnosis and the shock but later realised that what was previously a fatal blood cancer is now for a very high proportion of us a manageable (but lifelong ) chronic condition.
I trust that you will find ways to mark the upcoming event.
With best wishes
John
