i have the best news to share... my last 3 pcr results - all totally negative for bcr/abl- show that i have responded to the last DLI @ 50 million donor cells.
my doctor is almost as pleased as i am ;o))))
not sure what more to say other than i am extremely happy and will be celebrating.
when i was diagnosed over 8 years ago, i never dared hope that i would one day be CML free, PH negative, 'CURED'....!-although i still hesitate to use that word!
i am glad to be able to share this with all of you. the new methods of transplant (reduced intensity or mini-allograft)which use TKI'S to suppress the cml cells until it is safe to use DLI (12 months post transplant) is an exciting and significant move forward.
my doctors study will be published soon (hopefully) and i understand from him that the results of the study are extremely good and the fact that although i had a glivec resistant mutation, i still responded post transplant first to glivec and then to DLI is of particular significance. i believe there were 2 other people on this study that had mutations pre transplant who, like me, have fully responded to this very clever combination therapy.
my best wishes to all of you,
sandy (very happy);o)
