Got blood test results, Can anyone tell me if they are good enough

Hi to you all,
I have been on Glivec for 7-8 months since diagnosis and recently had blood sent off to be tested. (This was following a marrow sample which didnt show any positive cells/ 100).
I got a letter this morning sayin that out of 35,000 cells tested, there were 97 positive cells, which is a ratio of 0.28%.
The letter says this is a good response for the short time on glivec, but just wondering if anyone can fill me in a bit more as to what the results mean.
I appreciate any response.
Bram

however i am not a doctor or specialist!

down to 0.28% in 7-8 months does sound good

I think that is a "Complete cytogenetic response" "occurs when out of 20-50 marrow cells, no cell with a Ph chromosome was detected" (taken from the FAQ) 1 in 50 would be 2%

again I am NO EXPERT!!! best to talk direct with your Dr

Well done Bram. You have achieved CCR (Complete Cytogenic Response) and that is good enough to get you into the Zero Club. From now on you should be tested using a RT-qPCR test in order to monitor how well you are doing. Your next goal is to get to MMR (Major Molecular Response) and then on to CMR (Complete Molecular Response). Once you achieve MMR there is no chance that you will relapse with your CML.

PS I will be at the CML Edinburgh Conference. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
