broken bones - anythign to consider

So i managed to break my nose last week, by not quite catching a softball, ouch (these by the way are not soft!, actually broke my oakley sunglasses in 2!)

I lost what looked like a lot of blood and the bleeding took about 2 hours to stop.

Is there anything I need to consider with regard to CML, Imatinib etc with broken bones... obviously I told the A&E dr's about the CML etc

Rob - - with 2 black eyes!

Rob's posting has reminded me to warn other CML people about what was a very unpleasant consequence of taking the antibiotic CoAmoxiclav while on 400mg of Glivec per day.

I had the nasty task of breaking up dog fight a couple of weeks ago - yes, my demon Jack Russell was in the thick of it -and received a bad bite on my hand.

The antibiotic CoAmoxiclav was prescribed in A&E, I checked it out with my blood doc, who said it wouldn't affect the Glivec. A couple of days in, the diarrhoea became so severe it was incapacitating and scary. No 'griping' tum - so not caused by eating something dodgy. I immediately stopped the antibiotics, and things calmed down the next day. Luckily the hand wound did not become infected from stopping the pills less than half way through the course.

I have taken other antibiotics while on Glivec, with no ill effects. But I'm posting this as a cautionary tale. Either keep out of dog fights, wear chainmail gauntlets, or ask for a different antibiotic if you get bitten!

Sorry about your black eyes, Rob! At least that softball didn't have teeth...
