Tasigna plus Inf:

Hi all
Just back from Kings. My PCR still bobbling in the low CCR zone. Dr don't want to increase my Nitotinib doseage, I am on 400mg, as I have shown such a sharp rise in my blood sugar level and cholestrol since starting the drug.

Options to try and get the illusive zero where Dasatinb, or add Inf to Tasi.

Main thoughts were to keep Dasatinib in the store cupboard in case I need to switch from Tasi at a later date due to intolerance etc.

Am starting with a very low dose of Inf 1.5mu once a week, so that a close eye can be kept on my counts. I had a rather severe reation to Inf when I took it just after diagnosis, pre Glivec days. Fingers crossed that I am in much better shape now and the low dose might be totally manageable.

Here's to getting that zero again.
Pennie.

Hi Pennie,

I think this is rather interesting on trying Tasigna with IFN. I am on a very low daily dose .5MIU of IFN with Dasatinib, since last July and I must say that it is barely noticeable as far as side effects go. I like the idea that IFN might be pushing out any Quiescent stem cells that might still be lurking around and that Dasatinib (or Tasigna in your case) will "seek and destroy" them.

Here's to you and me and the rest of us for being pioneers!

Love and Peace,
Cheryl-Anne

Dear Pennie,
good to hear that your doctor is up for trying novel approaches in order to get your pcr to zero and less.
I will be watching your response to the combination with interest. Several people (in european countries) are doing well on low dose pegulated interferon alone.. without TKI... but had been CMR status for some time before.
I do hope the combination of IFN + TKI works as well for you
as it has for Cheryl-Anne, who is finding a combo easy to tolerate and more importantly very effective in keeping CML cells under control.... and hopefully is also killing the quiescent stem cells which seem to be the source of residual disease.

Best wishes,
Sandy
