PCR result help needed to interpret please.

Hi My latest PCR result arrived via email today. Not sure how to read this as its never been expressed this way before. Any help/info would be great.

'The last pcr- PB sample. The p210 M-BCR-ABL (e13a2; e14a2) transcripts tested
WERE NOT detected by q-PCR (Taqman).'

Thanks
Pennie.

Dear Pennie,

Looks like Pcr undetecable to my untrained eye. Best to check with your doctor.

Sandy

Hi Pennie,

You need to now what the sensitivity of the PCR test is for it to have meaning.

If the sensitivity is 1 in 1,000 and you are PCRU it doesn't mean that you are PCRU if the sensitivity is 1 in 10,000 or 1 in 100,000.

The good labs have a sensitivity of 1 in 100,000 and 1 in 1,000,000.

Also, some labs will change the sensitivity of their test without telling you about it. It makes it impossible to compare results.
