Current advice on changing from one 2nd generation TKI to another please

I am in the unhappy situation of probably having to change from Tasigna to Dasatinib, due to onset of diabetes.  As this counts intolerance, what is the current advice on approaching PCT for exceptional circumstance funding please?  Consultant is writing and I will also, but  have already been advised that my PCT is likely to refuse change over. Have made appt with GP who is on PCT, but should I approach my helpful MP at this point?  Any other ideas please.

Thanks

Pennie.

Dear Pennie... I am so sorry to hear that you have developed diabetes! what a challenge! Regarding the problem with changing drugs and PCR's etc. I suggest that you contact Kate Spall... who's contact I gave in a previous post. Her work is directly with patients who need to as for exceptional funding by their PCT and she has been very successful.

Kate is a dedicated patient advocate and would be the best to advise you as her expertise is entirely in this area.

Sorry to hear your news Pennie, contact Diabetes uk for advice, they will be outraged if your access to Dasatinib is denied, especially since the costs  are about the same.I am diabetic so I went on to Dasatinib straight away after Glivec failed.

Depending on the level of your Diabetes and with expert advice you may be able to balance CML,Diabetes, tasigna in the short term.
