Gout as a side effect of Tasigna

Hi All

I am on Tasigna and have been on it for 18 months now.

All of a sudden if gotten a bad case of gout in my feet It is most painful My onc says it could be a side effect but has had no other Tasigna patients present with it.

My GP who took my bloods and found very high uric acid levels has given me Meds which are not helping We have tried Various Gout meds but to no effect.

Has anybody else had this problem and maybe a solution

Looking forward to finding a solution

Trevor

Hi Trevor

Sorry to hear about the gout - it really is painful. My other half gets it really badly (although that has nothing to do with drugs) and the only thing that helps is diet - avoiding beer, not eating things like spinach etc. It may be worth a referral to a dietician just to rule out food as a problem - there are a number of websites where you can get diet sheets as well

Hope you manage to clear it up

K

Thanks Karena

Have trawled the web for diets and for the last week have cut out all the things the diet sheets tell you to

Lots of things I like i have cut out. Fortunately don't drink so it cant be alcohol

Thanks for your advise Ill keep on trying. Tasigna is working well for my CML so don't want to try by stopping it for a few days to check it if is causing the gout.

So back to the GP tomorrow to try and find a solution I'm going through hell with the pain and it just does not let up.Even the serious pain killers are not making a difference

Friend of mine had gout, was teetotal, but drank lemonade and apparently citrus drinks are bad...also he worked at a Garden Centre & was also suffering some dehydration in the heat of the polytunnel.

Good luck & let us know if you find anything that works, or cut out anything which makes it better.
