To everyone who knows my son Bill.
Yesterday with great trepidation we set off for school to get his A level results. The doors were opened at 10 and a great swathe of teenagers filed into the school. I was banned from hovering outside and had to wait in the car. I didn't want to begrudge Bill this moment with his friends so I sat waiting for news until 10.30 when my phone rang. It was Bill. In his unassuming manner he told me he's got an A* for his Art and a D for his Design Technology. A real achievement in light of the last three years living with his CML, going through puperty and trying to be 'normal'. He battled with the crushing tiredness and horrible leg pains to spend hour after hour working to achieve his very best. These grades represent more than I could ever have hoped for and the first 'A' Bill has ever been awarded. They also mean an 'Unconditional' place at university next year and the promise that brings. To have the pressure taken off him now is the sweetest prize of all.
Best wishes. A very proud mum
