Progress Update

Dear All.

I wanted to share my latest results with you, and some news you may not be aware of.

I received my results at 10 months of Treatment on Thursday 27 January. My Philadelphia Cell Count is at 0.0142%, so I have achieved a Complete Molecular Response from Imatinib @ 400Mg daily. I'm very happy about this and wanted to share it with you.

However, I've been prescribed Fybogel Mebeverine, by my GP, to manage an uncomfortable side-effect of my treatment with Imatinib, and asked my Consultant whether he could provide Fybogel for me on Hospital Prescription. He told me that he couldn't, however under new Government Legislation, patients in England under treatment for Cancer are entitled to a 5-year exemption certificate from Prescription Charges. I have qualified this with my GP and will be filling in the paperwork at my GP Surgery tomorrow.

I'm aware that this may be useful information for other forum members that need to take additional GP prescribed medication, and encourage you to discuss this with your GP also.

All the best :)

David.

Hi David,

Congratulations on achieving CMR, that's great news!

I am on Mebeverine too, not the fybrogel sort though. I was told I would get free prescriptions for life as CML is a life long condition but I would have to renew it every 5 years.

Saves a bit of cash doesn't it and every little helps.
