Petition-NICE I don't think so! and NICE be Nice to Cancer Patients - confusion over two petitions

There are two 'live' petitions

1. NICE? I don't think so!

against the appraisal for imatinib resistant CML

and

2. NICE be Nice to Cancer Patients

against last years peliminary appraisal for imatinib intolerant CML

I know this has confused some people- but we need to keep the 'older' petition live too because NICE have separated the two cohorts of patients who need access to 2nd generation drugs in to two separate appraisals. They did this to confuse and it has.

However NICE will discuss the two ACD's (for resistance and intolerance) separately, but at the same meeting on June 9th

so we will have to deliver both petitions to them- and also to the Secretary of State for health-  as if they are for a separate appraisals-

I have registered to attend both NICE appraisal meeting on June 9th in Manchester-

We have a chance to silently protest in the same room as the committee- just by being there.

I am at the New Horizons CML and GIST conference in Amsterdam and we have a lot of support for  from CML advocates all over the world. They are all really shocked that NICE can make such a terrible decision for CML patients in the UK-

I have many assurances of support and willingness to help the campaign and hope to get a lot more signatures.

We have lots of our doctors signing too.... please encourage your doctors to join their colleagues sign up too.

If you want to register to attend the NICE appraisal committee meeting see information below:

NICE? I don't think so petition now 2519 signatures

Both petitions are doing well and attracting more signatures by the hour. This is very heartening. I wonder if over the next week we can get them up to 5000! maybe not but we can try.

I have published it on every CML related facebook page I know- I will try more this week.

best... Sandy
