PcR results

Hi sandy just revived PcR result ,not sure the exact figure just got graph through post.graph has level of BCR/ABL 1 normalised to ABL1 written along the top, down left hand side of graph 10, 1, 0.1, 0.01, 0.001, 0.0001, 0.00001 reading from 1/11/2012 .horizontal lines about 12mm appart my graph line goes 5mm below 0.0001 towards bottom line 0.00001. Not sure about stopping yet ,would like to try disatinib, what do you think.all the best tony.

Hi Tony, from what I can make out your latest pcr is: 0.00001? Well the machine they are using must be pretty sensitive (maybe Hammersmith?)- 4 zeros after the decimal point is pretty impressive.
I think anyone should only consider stopping if they have had a deep molecular response for at least 2 years.
You might like to view the presentation by Dr. Delphine Rea where she talks about the various Stopping trials.... you can watch the video posted at the top of this page in red.

If you don't want to try to stop just yet, and you doctor agrees that your side effects are caused by imatinib then it might be a good idea for you to change to dasatinib until you feel confident enough to try stopping. I assume your doctor would recommend you should enrol on a stopping/discontinuation study? You would need to be carefully monitored after stopping so you should only really do this within a study.

Congratulation on you very deep MR. There are a lot of people who would wish for such a good response.

Best wishes,
Sandy

Thanks for your reply sandy, don't think my balance is a result of imatinib because it started just before treatment, however the shortness of breath slured speech, puffy eyes an cramp, all this I can live with no problem also the fatigue and weakness ,I would say 50% muscle weakness, I am still very greatful for being on the drug, work in building of work at moment ,trying to sort balance , another hospital appointment in two weeks, looks at possible early retirement, been off work for nearly three months.all the best tony.
