3 year update

Hi all, three years in on Imatinib. Last PCR 0.04 June, last week 3 monthly hospital visit told no PCR result as now 6 monthly as stead PCR. Couple of blips, on the way. Imatinib may be a little slower but a great proven TKI with the same long term efficacy for all to remember.
Time rolls on, for newly diagnosed things do get good and better for most and very quickly, time flies. Like to update occasionally as I know many watch but don't post so often. As always thanks Sandy & David for all you do, and the other involved with CMLsg.
One last thing, QE Birmingham have stopped the Homecare delivery of TKi's etc as the service has been very poor, guess this will apply to other UK hospitals as well, so be aware you may need longer for a trip to collect your prescription after consultation.
Little early but have a good Christmas all.

I can't believe its been 3 years Nigel! Well done on your steady progress down to a very comforting 0.04%. You are right to say that imatinib is a good drug- it has saved so many lives. Side effects are well known 15 years on and we will be seeing generic imatinib in the near future. For those who do not find it good enough to keep control of the Ph's or who find the side effects intolerable, the other TKIs have proven to be life saving. I sincerely hope that UK and other Eu patients continue to be able to access a TKI that is most suitable for them as individuals. That means we must have access to all 5 that currently have an EMA licence.

Celebrate your 3 year milestone and enjoy the upcoming holiday- early or not- wishing you a lovely xmas and a wonderful New Year.

Thanks for updating on the situation with Homecare-

Sandy

Congrats on the result - an excellent outcome three years in. There will always be blips and none of us really know if that's the level of CML in our bodies moving up and down or 'noise' from laboratory handling and instruments.

As for the homecare - it's a shame that didn't work out. I just left the Bristol area as they introduced a scheme where you could collect meds from your local Boots ~3-5 days after they were prescribed. Used it twice and it worked really well; it would be nice to see it rolled out to other areas. Super convenient.

Season's Greetings

Chris
