9th mont control

Hey guys!, the lab lost my sample and they just let me know one month after. I’ve been doing well with Imatinib. Actually i am in my 10th month of treatment, but i’ve been waiting for my bcr-abl result (9th month follow up) and they just lost my result. Is there any problem if i took a new sample in my 10th month? i know  that i have to check my bcr-abl level every 3 months during my 1st year treatment. But now i have this issue ... will it be ok?

Hi This happens from time to time - occasionally a sample doesn't analyse properly in the PCR process. They should arrange to get another sample taken promptly. What was your 6 month result? If you've been doing well it is extremely likely that will have continued but it is always nice to know.

Hi, thank you for answer me. I was diagnosed in March. My last control (6th month treatment was in september, the result was 0.33%. In december , the lab lost my sample, so i will  have a lab test tomorrow morning, i won’t have my 9th month result, it will be my 10th month result. I pray to be good. My bcrabl when i was diagnosed in March was 170%.

If it helps I moved to 6 monthly testing once I reached CCYR (<1%) I was 0.72% so I can tell you for confidence that missing one won’t hurt judging by your response so far. I didn’t reach 0.3% until month 12 and you’ve already beaten that. And I hit MMR by 2.5 years. Not fast and not too slow either I don’t think. I am sure your response has continued to be good. Ignore your negative thoughts (they’re just thoughts not reality) look at the evidence thus far. As my therapist said focus on what you know not what you don’t 😀

That's great progress in 6 months. It is unfortunate that the 9 month result was missed but it is VERY unlikely to show anything other than further good progress. It is easy for people like me & Alex to say don't worry, but trust us we have seen this sort of thing quite a few times on posts over the years. You'll be fine.

Thank you so much Alex and Alastair for your time and advices. I won’t worry anymore, Sometimes i overthink and i am scared about this condition, but like Alex say i just have to think in what i know and not for things i don’t know. Thank you so much both and i really appreciate that you take time to reply my questions. Ah! and by any chance is it ok for cml patients to receive Pfizer or moderna vaccine?

Hi I was advised by my specialist to take up an offer of the vaccine when it was available to me. He didn't differentiate between Oxford/AZ and Pfizer. Moderna is not yet available in UK. There is a separate thread with Dr Druker's comments on this which you should read if you have allergies.

Yeah I will be getting the vaccine. It should be anyday for us here in the UK as they start to rollout over 70s and "Extremely Vulnerable" from today so thats us.

Looking forward to getting it to be honest. And I am extremley impressed with the speed of the rollout so far. The Govt might get in our good books again if they can deliver on this lol.

Thank you Alastair, i will check that topic
