Please advise

I recently received the results of my latest PCR BCR/ABL and there was a slight increase in my numbers. Also, my WBC and Absolute Neutrophils have dramatically dropped to below the low norms. In December I had to stop treatment due to a viral colitis for 2 weeks.  Is it possible this could have caused an increase? Is this cause for concern at this time? My initial diagnosis was in June 21.

PCR tests:

6/2/21         8/4/21        11/19/21         3/2/22

51.0892      8.2401       0.0070            0.0160

WBC:

3.7

ANC:

1.6

Thanks in advance for any advice,

JB

Hi JB, concerning your ANC. I am not sure your should be too worried about with this result - 1.6. According to the reference ranges- see link here as long as ANC is above 1.5 there should be no need for concern. Your WBC at 3.7 is not much below the lower end of normal range according to the same source (4-11) so again, I would not worry too much.

Your PCR result could be a blip... if your clinician has taken another sample to test then the next result may well be lower. It is usually advised that you should have at least 2 results - pref 3 - for comparison. PCR tests are highly sensitive and the sample may well be contaminated. So again, best to contact your clinician/lab when you think the result on the next test should be ready.

I hope this has reassured you.
