Hi everyone one!
As I wrote at a previous post I have started tfr and I take some supplements.
Vitamin D3 4000iu
K3 200mcg
Zinc 15 mg
Selenium 200mcg
Curcumin 2g
Except D3 (I know i have to monitor every 3-6 months)do I have to do blood test to see the levels of the others?I haven t read something like that at any post but I want to be sure(and safe 😝)

do I have to do blood test to see the levels of the others?

Only D is important to measure and compensate as D can accumulate over time or you may not be taking enough to be sufficient.

All the others you list do not need blood tests as long as you stay at or below the doses you list. vitamin K2 is fine up to about 800 mcg per day and does offer increased benefits above 200 mcg. 200 is a minimum in order to get benefit.

Selenium at 200 mcg per day will avoid any potential toxicity issues.

Zinc at 15 mg per day is recommended daily amount.

Scuba I read that taking 200mcg selenium or more per day increases the possibility for diabetes type 2 and for kidney promblems.Have you ever read something similar?

Asked my doc at the first day if I could take protein and he told me not to because often interact with tki,but I 've read twice or three members arr taking whey protein and had no issues......

Honestly, that sounds like a doctor who either doesn’t know what they are talking about or more likely finds it easier to say “no, don’t take supplements” than actually give a more nuanced and helpful answer.

Simple whey protein is absolutely fine with your medication. I am sure you can find a more exotic supplement that has something in it which might not be ideal to take with a TKI but you’ll be searching a long time to find it.

Generally the interaction with TKIs comes in the form of anything that messes with the CYP3A4 enzyme. Here are a few herbal supplements that can do that, so these would be things to maybe avoid in any more exotic protein based supplement. Source.

  • Allium sativum
  • Ammi visnaga
  • Azadirachta indica
  • Cimicifuga racemosa
  • Harpagphytum procumbens
  • Hydrastis canadensis
  • Naringenin compounds
  • Panax ginseng
  • Panax quinquefolius
  • Strychnos ligustrina
  • Uncaria tomentosa

What can I say David.....
Imagine that when I asked him I was in the first days of my treatment....scared and confused....I would not drink even water if he would told me so🤪

What tests do I take to find out what vitamins I lack in my body? Is there a possibility to get a more precise answer and not only “when you feel bad – take…” or do I just have to guess what I lack and try different supplements until I feel better?
No one in my family takes any supplements, but I really want to try them because I feel my brain is not active as it used to be, and my memory is also terrible. So, I want to try taking brainreference.com regularly to see what happens. The reviews are great, and it looks just like something I need. What do you think of this?
