sorry you have this worry. It is a little difficult to advise as you give no figure for the rise in your son's pcr. If it is not a large rise then I would say that you need to see at least 2-3 pcr results to look at the trend rather than an individual result. PCR's are notoriously sensitive tests and any given sample can be subject to contamination (for instance a sample can sit on the lab shelf for a little too long... or can be kept at the wrong temperature)....this would affect the result which is why it is difficult to make a decision about therapy based on one test result.
If the rise in his PCR is significantly high enough to cause his doctor to worry then you will need to ask some questions about why this might be.
If you take a look at the other discussion threads... particulary my recent posts to both Basil and Bill Yellowly in which I talk about the bioavailability of TKI's like Glivec etc. in any one individual then you will be aware that this is an important factor in maintaining molecular responses.

It is quite a complicated subject to explain and I am trying to write a summary of the current thinking on drug adherence and improving outcomes of therapy with TKI's.
