Hi Everybody
Just to introduce myself. I was diagnosed in June this year after feeling fairly unwell for about about a couple of months, and losing 2.5 stone in weight. After the usual blood tests and bone marrow samples at The Princess Royal, Farnborough, the results spoke for themselves, WBC 254. PLT 1281. Hb 10.8. I have the usual translocation of 9/22 but also 4/15 whatever that means. I was prescribed 4x500 Hydroxyrea. 1x300 Allopurinol. 1x75 Aspirin. I ceased this medication early in July to have an Apheresis procedure at Kings. I started on 1x400 Glivec on the 18th July and continue with that at the moment under Dr.Ho at Kings. I am feeling very encouraged by the current results WBC 5. PLT 218. Hb 13.4 and my PCR test was 13.174%, with minimal side effects. I was really pleased to find this forum as we all need support from time to time. Looking forward to meeting some of you on the 15th.
Best Regards
Tony
You are here
New to CML
Hello Tony,
Just sending out some positive thoughts to you with this note. My son (age 10) was diagnosed with CML in May 2008. It seems you're responding well to Gleevec. You should be encouraged with the results! I'm in the States, but I hear quite positive reviews of Dr. Ho. Anyway, never fear speaking with other experts in the field, since opinions on treatment may vary. My son has had 3 oncologists so far. We now are followed by Dr. Brian Druker. Won't meet you on the 15th, but wish you well just the same.
Regards,
Tracey
hello Tony and welcome to this forum. You are right to be really encouraged by your latest results... 13% PH+ represents a major cytogenetic response and it is within 3 months of starting Glivec.... this is such a good response.
I am glad you are able to come to the UK seminar. See you there,
best wishes,
Sandy
