Results

Hi

Just got my latest results from Kings and I seem to have reached a sort of plateau. June 0.0259%. Sept. 0.036%. Dec. 0.037%. March. 0.037%. I am not unhappy with these results, but I am always hoping for better. I have been on Glivec 400mg for nearly 3 years.

Hi Tony,

I know is a goal for all of us to see as many zero's as possible but your results- whilst they have not changed over the months- are pretty stable and that is a good place to be. How long have you been seeing this sort of result? You have been taking imatinib for 3 years - how long did it take for you reach CCR? Have you considered a higher dose? or a change of TKI?

Best,

Sandy

Hi Sandy

I was dx in June 2008 sarted on Chemo, and after an apheresis procedure commenced Glivec 400mg in July 2008. I was then BCR/ABL 34.106%. March 2010 I was 0.0991%. I haven't considered changing or increasing the dose because at the moment I have no side effects, my family have forgotten that I am ill and have stopped "pussy footing", I play golf twice a week, I do feel weary at the end of the day, but that might just be anno domino, I am 67. So I am rather set in my ways.  I would reconsider if the BCR/ABL results passed the magic 0.07%.

Best Regards Tony

Hi Tony,

good to hear you do not suffer side effects. given that, it might be worth considering 600mg imatinib as it might just give you a couple of extra zero's and would not be likely to increase side effects by much. Maybe this is a conversation worth having with your doctor at some point?

Fatigue is a documented side effect of imatinib by the way, so nothing to do with your age ;o)

Best wishes,

Sandy

Hi Tony,

I would think that you are doing just fine. That is what Dr. Druker would say. If it is working well for you, then leave it alone.

In my own case, I was on 400 mg for 5 years before I achieved a 3 log reduction (that was 5 rears ago). Today I'm at a 4.4 log reduction. It just goes slow for me.
