Hello Sandie

Thought I would let you know that I have just telephoned the Parc Thistle.  There are no rooms left under the HAEM 12 11 11 code for the night of the 12th November. Is it possible for Dr Goringe to organise some additional rooms a the special rate please?

Many thanks

Caroline

Dear Caroline,

Maybe the discounted room allocation is for the previous night? i.e 11th November as it would be less tiring to travel the day before. I don't know if the hotel would have alloctated discounted rooms  for 2 nights.

I will try to find out but I am afraid I can't promise anything. Maybe someone else has found reasonable accommodation nearby?

Best wishes,

Sandy

Dr. Goringe contacted me to say that he has now asked the Parc Thistle hotel to extend the allocation for discounted rooms to Friday night.

Best wishes,

Sandy

Hi all
I have just booked 2 nights accomodation at the novotel for £137 for 2 of us.
See you all there.

Stuart

Has anyone received a reply letting them know that they have a place at the seminar. I'm unsure about booking accommodation until I hear.

Hi Bob.... I will contact Dr. Goringe and ask.

Sandy

Hi Bob... Dr. Goringe answer is in my post below.... He is also sending me the days agenda soon which I will post on here. It sounds like this year is going to be a little different with a 'case study' session chaired by Prof. Steve O'brien. Also a session on stopping imatinib with cmlsgroup members speaking on their experience.

I will update when I have the final agenda.

Best... Sandy

"Dear Sandy,

We sent out notifications yesterday, so people should be hearing within the next few days.

We have booked for 80-100 delegates but can take up to 150.

So far we’ve got 35 booked in so we can certainly take more."

I am surprised that on 35 have booked up so far. I can highly recommend this Seminar, so please spread the word and encourage people to make the trip to Cardiff.

Sandy

I've never been to a patient day. I've had cml for just over 2 and a half years, I've never met anyone with it. I havent really discussed it with anyone either. I was just wondered if it worth coming to this patient day?? I think i'd probably benefit from it, but i'm worried about going. I'm quite shy as well, i dont want that to stop me from going.

Sharon

Please do come to cardiff, I think you will benefit from the experience. I went to nottingham 2yrs ago & found it a very informative day, & I benefited from meeting others with CML, as well as hearing from the experts in the field in the UK. I also go to the Hammersmith for the patient days & find it good to meet others in the same poition as me.

Like you I had never met another CML patient untill Nottingham, & now look forward to our get togethers, so I hope to see you there

Bob

Like you, Sharon, I've never been to a patient day - I was diagnosed just before the Nottingham one, and it was too soon for me to go, I was still too much in shock. Last year I was unable to make the date, can't remember why.

Unfortunately Cardiff is too far for me to get to easily (I live in Scotland).  Is there any hope of having a day in the north of England, or - better still - in Scotland?

Olivia

Dear Olivia,

There have been a few Patient Seminar days in the North- one in Edinburgh, one in Leeds and the last one in Liverpool. I am sorry you cannot make it to Cardiff this year. Hopefully next year will be somewhere close to you if not in Scotland.... it may be Newcastle's turn or even Glasgow.

Best wishes,

Sandy

Dear Sharon... I join with Bob in encouraging you to come to Cardiff. These Seminars are unique in Europe and are really valuable, not only in getting access to some of the best clinicians in CML but also in meeting up with others in the same position. It is difficult to describe just how much better it makes you feel.

Hope to see you there,

Sandy

Thanks Sandy, I'll keep my fingers (and toes?) crossed.

Olivia

See you there!

Janet

Just wondering if it is to late to register for the conference on saturday? The agenda looks very interesting so it would be nice to meet everyone again as well. Heres hoping!

Hi Ali,

you should email Andrew Goringe- details of his email on first post in this list. I am sure there will be room. David and I will arrive on Friday evening

Hope to see you there.

Sandy

Many thanks Sandy,

I found his email address yesterday & mailed him. Hope to see you there too, we will arrive on the Friday.

Hi All,

I have posted a topic in the forum regarding Apricot Kernels. I am unable to attend the National CML patient day, but was wandering if anyone was going could please ask the question to one of the experts at the meeting ? I understand it has never been done in a trial so they may not be able to answer. Sandy who has good knowledge about CML/TKI's may have the answer but if we don't get a response, it would be nice to know if a fellow member could ask on my behalf.

Thank you Chris.

I am coming from Swansea, so not too far. Is there an agenda and timetable yet?

Hello Des,

Here is the link to a copy of the Agenda.

See you there

Bob
