Hi All,
It's been a while since I've posted but I'm ecstatic to be able to let you all know that I gave birth to a very happy and healthy baby girl :-)
My husband Jed (you may remember him from the NICE campaign a few years ago) started off on imatinib and is now taking nilotinib. After long conversations with his consultant about the potential impact of the drugs we decided to go for it. During the pregnancy I was closely monitored and there were no adverse effects of the drug whatsoever.
So now we are having sleepless nights for a very different reason than when Jed was first diagnosed! And for the most part we don't mind :-)
If anybody wants any more info about my pregnancy I'm very happy to share - Sandy has my email address so if she doesn't mind perhaps you can contact her and she can pass it on (I'm just being cautious and don't want to post my personal email on a public forum).
All the best, from a very happy mummy!

Birth Announcement
That is such wonderful news, Bhiru and Jed. I certainly remember the fight to get Nilotonib and was moved by Jed's appeal on TV which I watched via a clip on this site. Although we have never met, you have been in my thoughts and I wondered what you had chosen to do. No need to tell you to enjoy parenthood...... and the sleepless nights (which don't last for ever!).
Warm wishes to you both,
Chrissie
Congratulations to both of you. I know you struggled to make the decision as there is not a lot of research regarding the effects of TKI therapies and pregnancy- however it has been proven many times over the years that any adverse effect on sperm from TKIs is absent.
I am so glad you have a lovely and healthy baby to enjoy - as Chrissie says, sleepless nights do not go on forever and you will be amazed at how quickly your little baby grows.
Very best wishes,
Sandy

Hi Bhiru, unfortunately we can't share photo's on this forum as yet - but if people would like that facility I could set it up?
Meanwhile, how about sharing you photo on the 'What is my PCR' campaign gallery- one or two have us have done that already, and it would be lovely to see her.
Best wishes,
Sandy
