PCR result arise

Categories:

I had two years PCR results Not detected. Recently relocated to another state, the lab also changed, the PCR result come out to be 0.045% IS. This really worried me.

I shouldn't worry as this result on IS is very good and within MMR. Have a look at the PCR primer on this website if you need more information.

Have a happy New Year,

Best

Hi,

This can be a problem for those tested in labs (particularly in the US)  that do not use a suitably sensitive Q-PCR method. It is likely that the previous lab used did not find Bcr/Abl evident because of that, and that your current lab is using a more sensitive test method. If this lab is tied to the International Standard then you should not worry- your result is very very low. Wait until the next result and then compare- it is very likely to be the same and remain stable, which is what you should be looking for. Any result under MR3 (0.1%) that is stable is indicative of disease that is highly receptive to TKI therapy - which is a good thing.

Best wishes for the new year,

Sandy
