Do all CMLers eventually become MR4 or better?

Categories:

Are there some of you that have been on treatment for 10 years plus that never went past MMR

Thanks!

Hi there,

No, not every patient does make it to MR4 or better. And they don't need to - MMR (also called MR3) is generally considered the safe zone but you will also find people who are a little above this for a long time and are doing just fine as well.

David.

I really wish more people would chime in if they have been years on and not MR4.  I am 3+ years and only briefly reached MMR.  Now just outside at a very low CCyR but really it's like a plateau for the last 18 months.  CCyR is the minimum good place to be (under 1.0) and has shown to have similar overall survival to MMR or lower but your chances of ever trying treatment free remission without a low MMR are not very good.  I hope you get to MR4 and beyond.  I know that Imatinib 400 provides a low MMR over a longer period of time for some than would a second or third generation TKI

I second that mate. The only conclusion I have come to is that these people have moved on with their lives and no longer visit the site much. I am confident they didn’t all die off?!? And sorry to hear you’ve lost your MMR after getting it albeit only just. As David put so well in another post “Don’t get too excited when you go down and don’t get too worried when you go up”. Seems to sum it up nicely. I get my results end of next month. Not holding my breathe for much of a change. Hoping I am stable at least. But it would be welcome now after 30months.... we shall see.

Trying to know how much I should care about it. Frankly at this point I don't, but yes TFR would be nice. I think we stand a good chance of witnessing ground breaking treatments that will at least diminish the number of pills we have to ingest  I used to think it was used as an outcome predictor but if you say that ccyr is as good then I don't know. I saw an Ad on HIV a couple of weeks ago and they were using the term undetectable and it was striking how similar the marketing was. Anyways how much of this obsession with MMR is marketting or medically motivated I don't know. would I change medication just because I'm not MMR don't know . These are things I have to figure out. Hope we eventually all reach it. I tought MMR was super common but like alex say people that publish on this site are either doing bad or great.
