Sprycel

Hi all,

Switch to 100mg Sprycel on Monday after plateauing on Tasigna (~0.2 Bcr-Abl) and having severe skin reactions. Any tips for taking the med? Anything to watch out for from your experience? I’m looking forward to a once a day pill with no fasting - guess that’s an upside!

Thank you!

Hi, if you are 0.2 you really don't need 100 mg that's way too high ,50 mg would be better to avoid bad side effects probably for a few months till BRC ABL goes down more then on to 20 mg.Scroll down to Facial swelling on Dasatinib  a previous post about this high dosage there is a link to research papers you can print and show to your stuck in the past Doctor .Good Luck .

Thanks Felix for the response. I had this discussion with the CML specialist when he made the change ask if I could take 50mg instead. I lost the debate- his rationale was since I was resistant to imatinib and a slow responder to Tasigna, he thought the high dose of sprycel was the best place to start. If things go well, we will drop dose. He prefers to start high and go low, rather than start low and up the dose.

Hi Kingburger, just checking to see how you are feeling on your new meds .Headaches in the morning? Hope you are feeling ok ,Regards .

Hi!  I take 100 mg Sprycel. My only suggestion is to take it in the evening. Sprycel tends to some fatigue and brain fog for me, so if I take it at 10 pm, I am just sleeping through it.  It does give me a mild headache in the morning, but nothing a couple of Tylenol and a cup of coffee can't fix.  Best of luck.

Thanks for checking in. I seem to be doing well. I take the Sprycel each morning and the headaches and nausea have all dissipated. The only thing I do notice at times is a rapid and strong heartbeat (I’m assuming it’s related to the drug). I mainly switched because I had a severe skin reaction to Tasigna. Thankfully this also seems to be going away. I still have a few minor hives but hopefully this will continue to improve. I go for blood work in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed!
