Hi there
I'm not a doctor so don't want to say too much about the immature granulocytes except that I thought these were associated with inflammation, not leukaemia (I thought they are different to blast cells, but could definitely be wrong).
However, I just wanted to offer some reassurance that I have seen so many weird things on my blood tests in recent times that I have come to expect anything: I have had things like rouleaux, target cells, polychromasia, macrocytic anaemia and who knows what else show up on my blood smears. If you Google these, they all sound as though they could indicate something serious... but then on the next blood test they disappeared.
The point I want to make is that we, as CML patients, have way more blood tests than most people in the general population, and it's easy to freak out about these strange things that appear on the report. I'm sure that a person without any blood conditions would have these kinds of things showing up on blood tests from time to time... Also have been wondering what would happen if we were to test the general population for BCR-Abl and whether some people may show low levels without ever being diagnosed with CML.
Try not to worry and I hope that you can get to the bottom of these immature granulocytes and what is causing them!
Best wishes from South Africa
