TWISTER trial

Hi - Does anyone know anything about the 'TWISTER' trial, being carried out in Australia? It's looking at what happens when people in MMR come off Glivec completely. I can't find much about it on the web at all.

Are there any other studies of this sort being done in the world that anyone knows of?

I did find these articles whilst looking for info on this subject...

an alternative use for Glivec...

...and thought this was interesting also...

Hi Kenny,
I have heard of a few studies in Europe where patients in MMR for over 2 years are stopping Glivec. Those that stay in remission (without any therapy) seem to be the patients that have been pre-treated with Interferon .... so this may need further study to prove this is the case.
There are other studies where patients.. again in MMR for over 2 years... are treated with low dose IFN after stopping Glivec. This is also having some success. But we will have to wait for the data before we know how successful these studies are and what the real significance is for the majority of CML patients treated with TKI's. Most patients now have not had treatment with IFN so it may be somewhat of a challenge.
Thanks for the links....
Best wishes,
Sandy

I have posted a new article under Newswire which covers this subject.
Thanks to Giora from the Israeli group for sending it to me.
